Following the Saturday trip to Cambridge, showing Katherine all those colleges around..and visited a few friends: Sammi, Clare, Wei and Chanchan...Still a lot haven't got the chance to meet them...sigh...It was so exciting to chat with Clare...We haven't seen each other for more than two years..well..after I left Hopwood Hall College..I've heard that she had a really tough year...She's still very energetic and chatty....plus her supergood memory of all my embarrassed moments that I've already forgotten...It's my fourth time visiting Cambridge..the weather was not as good as the last three times...Well, though I was rejected, I still like Cambridge..But I don't think I am going to try the clinical school of Cambridge as Wei suggested...I don't think it's that good plus I don't want to be in the medical school for one year more...Nottingham is a very economical option for me...Wei didn't stay with us for supper coz she's got her husband home..well...we can understand...>_<

 

From the beginning of the winter term, as Emily suggested, I am wearing ear plugs every day. The noise is intolerable! 超级讨厌住我隔壁的那个叫'詹母士 拜瑞'的男生,把个大喇叭音乐开得震天响不说,还喜欢把门大开,让所有人'一起享受'他的恐怖音乐.遇到这家伙心情好,还扯个嗓门大吼一阵.另外,我极其怀疑这个家伙是个同性恋.每天和个男生一起到深夜不说,还总是出双入对.最可恶的是,这个'同志'平均每分钟要说一个脏字,那个连贯程度可算是专家级别的,而且种类齐全,运用连贯且不重复.

When these drank ppl went back, they shout!they bang the doors!they laugh!they do eveything!!Trying various ways to make the fire alarm go off is one of their favourites.

 

In Ancy,we have rude rules..such as everyone need to pay for the damage of those drank ppl..overseas students do not have priority to use the store room..tutors do not have any power to control the noise..

 

The timetable of medical school is ever so terrible. We have 9 o'clock lecture nearly everyday. I mean, I don't mind if all of them finish in a row...but..there are gaps from 9 to 5..what they want is make u stay in that bloody boring QMC for the whole day, for 2 lectures or for 5 lectures...whatever...Normaly I use these gaps to stay in the library..well...SLEEP!! My sleeping quality is not good...nor do I do any work...They leave all labs to the last two weeks and because I need to fight for the store room, I've already put most of my stuff to the store room...my lab booklet as well...so I have excuse not to go to the 7 hours' long labs!! Why don't they just let us have all lectures in half a day!? When I was doing 5 A Levels as school plus another at college, my timetable was pretty full, but I never felt that tired. Now, I am tired and cannot do any work...D**n...

Today after the usual weekly dissection(surprise,surprise,surprise,I got an A for this assessment. Experience or simply because the demonstrator asked easy questions? who knows? The more I revise, the lower mark I get!Oh, maybe i need to say thank you to that Cheat Sheet.Really should buy it at the first place).

本来想把整篇文章发上来的,不过发不出去,据说是包含了什么难以接受的语言什么的,晕死.在英国是个人都知道的政府对网站的大屏蔽果然不假.我觉得也没包含什么过火的东西呀,真是奇怪.能看到连接的就看看吧,分析得不错.

三年前，我自以为聪明地买了友邦的大病保险和意外保险，因为觉得友邦是外国的保险公司，不会像中国的保险公司那样耍赖。上个月，CCTV-2的生活315节目播出了一个人买了中国人寿的大病保险，结果理赔的时候被拒赔的事情，原因是他的治疗方法不符合保险合同上面规定的治疗方法，虽然后来他通过上诉和医生的鉴定最终得到了赔偿，但是节目的记者拿着他的那份保险合同详咨询了一下医生，发向那上面有很多规定的治疗方法和所保的病症是矛盾的，也就是说，你要是得了他们能理赔的那种病，你必须要用人家指定的方法来治疗，而对方指定的治疗方法据医生说，跟本就不是治这种病该用的，用了反而死得快。所以，你就不可能得到人家的赔偿。

看了这个节目，我把我的保险合同也找了出来看了看，表面上看起来，我的大病保险合同里面没有对治疗方法有太多的规定，但是还是有很多诸如“必须符合以下所有条件”之类的限制，由于我不懂医学，所以决定找一个做医生的朋友来帮我看看。今天下午，我们见面了，我的这个朋友在北京一家非常好的医院作了几年医生了，而且工作也做得挺出色的。他看了我的保险条款里面有关大病部分的条款（我复印了这部分拿去的）后，十分吃惊，他说：“这个保险不是保大病的，就是保死的，这些条款，你要是符合了，就非死不可，不可能在活着的时候领到赔偿金的 ……”这和我当初买这份保险的初衷一点也不一样。当初保险代理人给我们的解释是，你万一生了大病，看病需要很多钱，有了这份保险，你看病的钱就是保险公司给你出，你家里人就不会那么着急上火了，但是现在经过医生仔细审核这个保险后，只有死了以后才能领到这笔钱，那么这个保险不该叫大病保险阿！

举几个例子说吧：
（1）癌症： …………任何组织涂片检查和穿刺活检结果不作为病理依据。
     医生解释：现在癌症的病理诊断全都是依靠组织涂片检查和穿刺活检结果，如果不包括这两种，那就只能切样检查，但是这种检查方法就排除了现在发病率比较高的癌症（例如肺癌，胃癌，食道癌等等）以及中早期癌症，所以你要么就得一个世界上都罕见的癌症，要么就捱到晚期再去医院检查。

（2）暴发性病毒性肝炎：…………其诊断必须同时符合以下标准：
     a. 肝性脑病，出现意识障碍；
     b. 持续性黄疸，且肝功能急剧退化；
     c. 弥漫性肝小叶结构破坏，仅剩下倒塌的支架结构。
     医生解释：a和b任何一项要是符合的话，这个人就已经没什么活路
了，何况是两项都符合，你要是达到这个程度，医生已经不可能给你治疗了，直接让你准备后事了。至于c，就更缺德了，这个c规定的诊断就是只有尸检才能出来的结果，也就是说，你不死，是绝对没有可能得到赔偿的，就算你死了，也未必能得到赔偿，因为尸检的结果，未必完全符合 c。

（3）冠状动脉外科手术：因冠状动脉疾病而接受一条或以上的光状动脉的开胸手术，………… 但不包括血管成形术、激光治疗或其他在动脉之内做手术。      医生解释：开胸手术的目的就是做血管成形术，否则就没有必要开胸，但是人家不包括了，所以，这一条相当于没有保，因为自相矛盾，不可能做得到。

（4）良性脑肿瘤：不包括垂体腺瘤、脑囊肿、肉芽肿、脑动静脉畸形、听神经瘤、脑膜和脊髓肿瘤，…………       医生解释：很惭愧，医生感到自己见识太少，因为他所知道的良性的脑肿瘤只有上述不包括的这几种，除此之外不知道还有其它的什么良性脑肿瘤。

He studied with Guiraud and others at the Paris Conservatoire (1872-84) and as prizewinner went to Rome (1885-7), though more important Impressions came from his visits to Bayreuth (1888, 1889) and from hearing Javanese music in Paris (1889). Wagner's influence is evident in the cantata La damoiselle élue (1888) and the Cinq poèmes de Baudelaire (1889) but other songs of the period, notably the settings of Verlaine (Ariettes oubliées, Trois mélodies, Fêtes galantes, set 1) are in a more capricious style, as are parts of the still somewhat Franckian g Minor String Quartet (1893); in that work he used not only the Phrygian mode but also less standard modes, notably the whole-tone mode, to create the floating harmony he discovered through the work of contemporary writers: Mallarmé in the orchestral Prélude à 'L'après-midi d'un faune' (1894) and Maeterlinck in the opera Pelléas et Mélisande, dating in large part from 1893-5 but not completed until 1902. These works also brought forward a fluidity of rhythm and colour quite new to Western music.

Pelléas, with its rule of understatement and deceptively simple declamation, also brought an entirely new tone to opera - but an unrepeatable one. Debussy worked on other opera projects and left substantial sketches for two pieces after tales by Poe (Le diable dans le beffroi and La chûte de la maison Usher), but nothing was completed. Instead the main works were orchestral pieces, piano sets and songs.

The orchestral works include the three Nocturnes (1899), characteristic studies of veiled harmony and texture ('Nuages'), exuberant cross-cutting ('Fêtes') and seductive whole-tone drift ('Sirènes'). La mer (1905) essays a more symphonic form, with a finale that works themes from the first movement, though the centrepiece ('Jeux de vagues') proceeds much less directly and with more variety of colour. The three Images (1912) are more loosely linked, and the biggest, 'Ibéria', is itself a triptych, a medley of Spanish allusions. Finally the ballet Jeux (1913) contains some of Debussy's strangest harmony and texture in a form that moves freely over its own field of motivic connection. Other late stage works, including the ballets Khamma (1912) and La boîte à joujoux (1913) and the mystery play Le martyre de St. Sébastien (1911), were not completely orchestrated by Debussy, though St. Sébastien is remarkable in sustaining an antique modal atmosphere that otherwise was touched only in relatively short piano pieces (e.g.'La cathédrale engloutie').

The important piano music begins with works which, Verlaine fashion, look back at rococo decorousness with a modern cynicism and puzzlement (Suite bergamasque, 1890; Pour le piano, 1901). But then, as in the orchestral pieces, Debussy began to associate his music with visual impressions of the East, Spain, landscapes etc, in a sequence of sets of short pieces. His last volume of Etudes (1915) interprets similar varieties of style and texture purely as pianistic exercises and includes pieces that develop irregular form to an extreme as well as others influenced by the young Stravinsky (a presence too in the suite En blanc et noir for two pianos, 1915). The rarefaction of these works is a feature of the last set of songs, the Trois poèmes de Mallarmé (1913), and of the Sonata for flute, viola and harp (1915), though the sonata and its companions also recapture the inquisitive Verlainian classicism. The planned set of six sonatas was cut short by the composer's death from rectal cancer.

On Friday, Jemene handed in my leaving letter to the manager in McDonald and today was my last shift ever!! So far, many ppl have left. I guess the poor management is the main reason. Francesca said she used to work in one of the McDonalds in Leicester and that one was much better than this one and she felt tired as well...Even lindy is thinking about leaving. Well, I really do not care...The only thing that makes me depressed is that this year I've spent 20000 pounds a piece and these r all from my parents...feel really really guilty about that... so I guess I won't make another journey to Spain this summer, coz three countries in Central America is enough for the summer plus I will go back to China anyway&my flight to Honduras needs to stop in Madrid. Bless me!!Hope I could get all those visas I want. Honduras,Belize,Guatemala!!Estoy viniendo!!

 

But...what should I do for the gap between my departure to central america and the end of the semester...no job..no money..no place to live (well, hopefully, my new landlord will allow me to stay in Lili's)..

说我老不更新,有什么办法,最近解剖解得头晕,打工也不想继续了,太多东西要看,不行了.一看考试人数,1月的考试怎么就250人参加,年级不有270人吗?据说很多圣诞结束就没回来的,还有我一朋友,是穆斯林,考试一结束就回家了,说要想想,不读了.爽就一个字啊.干脆的.

 

拼命洗澡洗衣服,那味道...复习也和24具尸体在一起,不过因为大自然的照明什么的,居然什么感觉也没有.我那书...还有那味道...不能放弃呀,牺牲这么多才能读的这个...希望一切是值得的.
